UN Representative Business and Human Rights consultation until 31 January 2011; 86% Irish CEOs believe Corporate Responsibility has role to play in rebuilding corporate Ireland

UN opens consultation on Business and Human Rights

The UN Special Representative of the UN Secretary General (SRSG) for Business and Human Rights has set up an online forum in order to gather feedback for its draft Guiding Principles. The SRSG will accept suggestions from stakeholders until 31 January 2011 before presenting its final recommendations to the UN Human Rights Council in June 2011. These recommendations will include Guiding Principles to accompany the UN "Protect, Respect and Remedy" framework, which aims to address the impact of business on human rights.

BITCI survey on Corporate Responsibility

Business In The Community Ireland (BITCI) have published an online survey carried out by Ipsos/MRBI, which surveyed the CEO/ Managing Directors of 100 companies in Ireland. Among other findings, the survey revealed that 86% of Irish CEOs believe that corporate responsibility can play a role in the recovery of corporate Ireland and 65% believe that investment in Corporate Responsibility will increase in the coming year.
