The Law Society of Ireland Human Rights Certificate commencing 3 November 2010

The Law Society of Ireland Certificate in Human Rights will commence on 3 November 2010. The course will run over a three-month period culminating in a written assessment to be submitted by 4 February 2011. Course places are subject to availability and are allocated on a first paid basis. The certificate will introduce you to the international, regional and national human rights framework. It will also provide practical guidance on enforcing human rights in the legal arena. The course delivery will be by means of blended learning, combining best practice in both online and onsite learning. The delivery method will be of particular interest to those who cannot easily travel to Dublin on a weekly basis. Course materials will be released each Wednesday of the course online via the diploma website, known as Moodle. Participation in online interactivity will be an integral aspect of the course. There are two other additional onsite sessions which will take place on Wednesday 24 November and Wednesday 19 January from 6.00pm to 9.00pm.

This course is suitable for practitioners, trainees and students. It will also appeal to NGO non-lawyers with a human rights background or other suitably qualified professionals with relevant experience who work or aspire to work in the human rights area. (Please note, if you are not a qualified solicitor, barrister or trainee you must apply with a cover letter and curriculum vitae for approval in order to attend the course.)

The fee for the course is €1,160 (a supplement of €50 applied to non-lawyer applications). You can apply either online, via a bank transfer or alternatively by post.
